I don't think you're far off the mark. In fact, I've never believed that Bush (Junior or Senior) are conservatives. They're in it for the power.

Everything you need to know to understand the current administration can be found in the wedding scene from "The Godfather."

It's not about politics, it's personal.

I'm not sure why people over-think things when it comes to George Bush. How about this -- Miers told Bush that she would vote against Roe v. Wade given the opportunity. Bush told Rove to tell Dobson. Rove did. Bush nominated Miers.

It's similar to this: Saddam Hussein attempted to assassinate Bush, Sr. "W" had the opportunity for some Texas-stye vengeance on the old boy who tried to kill his daddy. Bush told Wolfowitz, Rove and Powell to arrange it. Wolfowitz and Rove cooked up a rationale, Powell held his nose and served it, and Hussein awaits his fair trial and inevitable execution.

Wolfowitz and Powell withdraw in self-disgust. Will, Krauthammer and Kristol protest in Bush-disgust.

Philosphy? Puh-leeze.
