Simon: The <i>Unified Kerry Theory <\/i>Strikes Back&#8221; href=&#8221;http:\/\/rogerlsimon.com\/archives\/00000702.htm&#8221;>Unified Kerry Theory<\/a> is on a collision course with The Ken Layne Directive (&#8220;fact-check his ass&#8221;) now that the Democrat contest has settled down into a slow march to Kerry&#8217;s coronation in Boston. <\/p>\n<p>Old-style politicians like Kerry ignore Layne at their peril.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Kerry, why is it that the media are reporting his victory in Wisconsin as &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/02\/18\/politics\/campaign\/18ELEC.html\">narrow<\/a>&#8221; or &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/politics\/2004\/la-021804kerry_lat,1,3528671.story?coll=la-home-headlines\">close<\/a>&#8220;? The margin was 40-34, meaning he got close to 18% more votes than Edwards. That&#8217;s not exactly a landslide, but it&#8217;s no squeaker. Presumbably the media are trying to drum up some interest in a nomination contest that&#8217;s basically settled business.\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I think Roger L.
