— Americans win last four games to reach semis
OGDEN, Utah — The American women’s curling team clinched an Olympics semifinals spot with an 11-2 victory over Norway on Monday.
Stacey Liapis and the U.S. women routed Norway to reach the curling final four.
The U.S. team won its last four games to finish the round-robin with a 6-3 record.“This was our first expectation, reaching the final four. Now we just have two games to win,” U.S. skip Kari Erickson said.
The babes were utterly fantastic against the Norwayans yesterday, creaming them so bad they gave up and ran away with three ends to play. The fabulous Kari scored over and over with brilliant draws and hits, thoroughly dominating the Norwayan skip who happens to be the most decorated active curler. They face some stiff competition from the crafty Swiss and the frigid Canucks, but the momentum is on their side going into the Final Four, where they only have to win one of two games to take home America’s first medal in Curling. Since they’ve already whooped all three of the teams currently tied for fourth place, it’s a good bet that the babes will medal.
On a related note, some pervert came to this site yesterday from Google looking for “Kari Erickson nude”. No such luck.
Sadly, Tim (Mr. Sunshine) Somerville’s American men’s team lost their final match to Britain and has been eliminated from the games. The chemistry on the men’s team wasn’t right, with constant friction evident between purebred curler Somerville and Schneeberger. Some experts blame Somerville’s Russian green card wife for Yoko Ono’ing the Fab Four, others see Somerville as too high-strung for competition at this level, and others still believe the team didn’t drink near enough beers. Curling, like soccer football, may be destined to be a girl’s game in the USA.
