It was after Mr Bush singled out Irish-American firemen for their heroism on September 11 that Mr Adams was led forward by Congressman Peter King, an IRA supporter, to pose for pictures with them.


One guest said: “Adams was completely shameless. Some of the firemen looked pretty uncomfortable.”

The contradictions are making my head hurt.

  1. Actually Gerry Adams is pretty popular with Irish-Americans, particularly with those who are employed by the NYPD and the FDNY. You really shouldn’t trust a British newspaper like the Daily Telegraph if you want to know about the political views of Irish-Americans.

  2. Gerry Adams is a terrorist who should be in prison. He’s not nearly as popular with NY cops as he was before his brothers in Al Qaeda killed their brothers on the force.
