You have awfully tough standards for Mr. Herold. The author in question merely showed a few errors that Herold himself admitted were possible given the lack of resources available.
Far more frightening is this fact that this study appeared in Le Monde, Frankfurter Zeitung, the London Times, the FT, the Sydney Morning Herald, etc., but never appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, or the Boston Herald.
To talk about the study, then point out its flaws, as the fellow did in the article you referenced, and in Time Magazine, is journalism. To ignore its existence altogether is very exemplary of a frighteningly effective trend of the mainstream media suppressing information that might be construed as anti-Administration. THis scares me more than Osama Bin Laden and Sadaam Hussein put together.
