It turns out the economy has added close to 500,000 new jobs this year, with the biggest bump in March:
Businesses added 308,000 new jobs to their payrolls last month, on a seasonally adjusted basis, the biggest monthly jump in four years, and the unemployment rate edged up to 5.7 percent from 5.6 percent in February as the number of people searching for work also rose.
Kerry better not give up his Senate seat just yet.
Your boy had one good job creation month out of
39. Don’t go gettng all uppity. Ha ha. Still the worst jobs president since Hoover.
There’s been more than one good month. February was revised upwards, and there were good months toward the end of last year.
The real question, therefore, will be whether voters blame Bush for the bad economy or not. Given that it was already tanking when he took over, and how much damage 9/11 did, it’s an open question how angry most who don’t already hate him are going to be inclined to blame him.
Three good months looks an awful lot like a trend, and the steam is increasing. Kerry can’t run on national defense, and if he can’t run on the economy, he’s pretty well screwed.
