Baseball Prospectus – Preseason Predictions are probably as good as anybody’s:
BP Author World Series Winner Will Carroll Red Sox Steven Goldman Cubs Gary Huckabay Athletics Rany Jazayerli Red Sox Chris Kahrl Red Sox Jonah Keri Athletics Doug Pappas Astros Dayn Perry Yankees Joe Sheehan Red Sox Nate Silver Red Sox Ryan Wilkins Red Sox Derek Zumsteg Athletics
My pick would be the Athletics, naturally.
I like the Orioles’ offense this year. But then, I’m from Baltimore and haven’t had a team to be excited about since Jeffrey Mayer reached out of the stands and tore out my soul.
1997 maybe.
Before that, Mike Boddicker was in the starting rotation and Eddie Murray had sideburns about which Elvis, were he alive, would have said, “damn, those are some serious sideburns, Eddie. Thank you. Thank you very much.”
The Orioles are gonna surprise a lotta people, dude, thanks to Miggy Tejada. I figure the best way to assess a baseball team is to count the former Athletics they have.
Good park for both he and Javy Lopez to hit in. We’ll see how the pitching holds up, though.
They were pretty impressive on opening day against the BoSox, hot bats and decent pitching. Ponson was a big flop for the Giants last year, but now that he’s back home he seems to be his old self again.
