Here’s my response to the continuing broadsides against me you may have read in the past few days.

I say bizarre because Winer’s mainly upset that Gillmor stopped using Winer’s software, and he covers that by claiming Dan’s not a Real Journalist because he didn’t criticize his employer. Thing is, Dan did criticize Knight-Ridder, and in fact he’s done so much more conscientiously than Winer’s criticized his, who happens to be himself.

  1. Weren’t these guys all pals for years, sitting on the same conference panels, etc.? Or have they been secret rivals, nursing blood-grudges? Sounds like a new Rift between tech-bloggers and, uh, tech-bloggers….

  2. They kinda were, excepting that Winer’s always been a notorious asshole. He’s just now decided he has something to gain by throwing Gillmor to the wolves as part of an amateur blogger vs. pro blogger war that Reynolds is trying to cook up. Trouble is, the wolves find Winer more tasty than Gillmor.

    Winer is also the only blogger to have his own parody site, http://winerlog.inspiredsites.net/.

    He’s truly a piece of work.
