But, in the interests of balance and to avoid future difficulties with the immigration service, here are some reasons why the US is wonderful.

Stuff like green suburbs, more wonderful race relations than Europe has, and “ever-open shops” that aren’t possible in socialist countries. I’m surprised he didn’t list our soccer football team, which actually scores a gooooooooooaaaaallllllll occasionally.

  1. Well, isn’t he sweet?

Yet he starts off with one of this silliest canards, the death penalty, which Britain abolished so recently that early P.D. James novels have the possibility of execution to spice things up (if you don’t understand what I mean think about the original vs. the second Perry Mason – what’s the worst that could happen inthe 2nd series – 8 years? Getting the Chamber was a reason to pony up for Perry and Paul’s cigarettes).

The death penalty is exactly like race relations – we’re way ahead of Europe on one, and not very far at all behind Euorope on the other.

Still and all, it’s nice to see someone admit that though they have philosophical problems with cheap gas they use it anyway.
