As you can see, there is wasted space on the sides, and the keyboard is too far forward. With all the attention Apple pays to industrial design, it’s a real head-scratcher that they do such a shoddy job of human factors and usability.

The only conclusion I can reach is that they didn’t intend for the thing to be used as much as beheld with great awe and reverence, as one might behold a sexy picture.

Apple: It’s not just a computer, it’s a cult.

  1. Touche! 😉

While you’re at it look at the half sized keys, such as the function keys. Ridiculous.

Still, I’d rather have that laptop than any other right now.

  2. That’s hilarious! When you said “small” earlier, I never would have guessed one the size of the Timex computer. It’s making my arms hurt just looking at it.

  3. OMG!

How could Apple get something as important as the keyboard so WRONG??

They clearly have the space and opportunity to design a more reasonable layout. What gives???

I just hope this thing brings the outrageous prices of the other powerbooks down. I’ll be getting one of them long before I spend money on this new carpal tunnel -book!

  4. I guess I don’t see the big deal here. Sure it may look strange, but the keys appear to be the standard size, save for those 1/2-sized function keys.

I guess the suggestion I would have offered Apple is that they could have offered a split ergonomic keyboard layout as an option. Isn’t it about time for an ergonomic-keyed notebook?
