From Gen. Tommy Franks:

Today we are asking our servicemen and women to do more, in more places, than we have in decades. They deserve honest, consistent, no-spin leadership that respects them, their families and their sacrifices. The war against terrorism is the right war at the right time for the right reasons. 1. The soon-to-be Mr. Franks seems to have violated the military code with this remark (military people aren’t supposed to be engaging in such political activity).

But I guess he, like his boss, is not in the realit-based world.

  2. The fascist impulse to silence the opposition rather than defeat them in argument is strong in you, John. Yesterday you wanted to censor Sinclair, and today Gen. Franks.

Have you no regard for the Bill of Rights?

  3. Free speech ain’t total if you’re getting a paycheck from somebody. Or if you’re leasing airwaves.

    But thanks again for playing.

  4. Nonetheless, military reservists are perfectly entitled to express political opinions in America, as Gen. Franks has done, but they aren’t entitled to negotitate with enemy powers, as John Kerry did with the North Vietnamese. The former is free speech, the latter is treason.
