Ah, John Cole…another mainstream Republican to emulate. That guy’s clearly a freakin nut who likes the sound of his own voice above all else. He’s the one who said that feeding tubes are “extraordinary machines” since they don’t have them at McDonalds. I pray he never meets someone with a colostomy bag, or he’ll have a total mainstream Republican breakdown.

Well, I was speaking to Cole’s output in general and this raving death-spiral-of-conservatism post you laud specifically. Did you read what I wrote? I’ve no idea if he’s a pussy, but he’s definitely a nut.
Or do you agree with him that a feeding tube is an extraordinary machine? If that’s an example of conservatism that you value, I’ll take a pass.
The feeding tube is a form of life-support, and without it the woman dies.

I’ve never seen anybody in McDonalds with a feeding tube, but it’s not such a bad idea.
Is there a hint of admiration for Barry Goldwater?
If she’ll die without the feeding tube, why are they also doing something to her that would kill anyone, forbidding water to be given by mouth?
She’s welcome to get herself all the water she wants, she’s just not being served any more.
But it’s academic because she’s been dead in any real sense of the word for 15 years already.
This is just about facing the facts.
Barry Goldwater was a man of principle, prescient about many things. A true libertarian, he supported both abortion rights and gay rights. If he were alive today, Tom DeLay would exterminate him.
