Islamic militants planned to detonate an explosion that would have sent a cloud of toxic chemicals across Jordan, causing death, blindness, and sickness, a chemical expert testified in a military court Wednesday in Amman. Col. Najeh al-Azam was giving evidence in the trial of 13 men alleged to have planned what would have been the first chemical attack by the al-Qaeda terror group. In his televised confession, prime defendant Azmi Al-Jayousi said his group had plotted the attack under instruction from al-Qaeda’s leader in Iraq, Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi.

Oops.

  1. So there might be WMD in Iraq (or Jordan) now. But where there WMD in Iraq before we invaded?

Yes, I understand that these foreign insurgents/whackjobs in Iraq may have acquired these weapons from Saddam’s caches. Which only speaks to the incompetence of the invasion planning by the Pentagon. Why didn’t we safeguard the weapons caches that we found? Where was the intelligence in all this?

Mr. Bush is running this government like he ran all his (failed) companies when he was a businessman. The only problem is that this time around, which of G. H. W. Bush’s friends is going to bail U.S. out?
