Read this Protein Wisdom post, especially of you think the left blogosphere is all about free thinking. And then read this if you think Republicans march in lockstep.

  1. “Lenin is supposed to have referred to blind defenders and apologists for the Soviet Union in the Western democracies as “useful idiots.” — Thomas Sowell

  2. After the vote on CAFTA, Richard, are you still contending there’s no lockstep voting by Republicans, (and supply side Democrats)? I got a kick out of listening to Washington Journal the morning of the late-night armtwisting, Rep. Cuellar giving a classic ‘trickle down’ justification for CAFTA, which incidentally, he supported.

  3. On CAFTA, 27 Republicans strayed from the reservation and voted “no”, while some 15 Democrats voted “yes”.

This party-line vote doesn’t exactly prove the Democrats to be the party of free-thinking.

The thing that impressed me about ole Bush on stem cells is that he allegedly told Frist to vote his conscience, whatever it told him, and there’s no hard feelings about his flip-flop.
