It would be nice if some of you intelligent conservatives would go on over to Cam Barrett’s Watchblog and sign up to be editors on the Republican side. He’s trying to put together a group blog to cover the election from all sides of the spectrum, and despite his own bias as a pinko liberal commie bastard, he’s doing a fair job of staying out of the ideological fray and letting the people speak.

  1. The blog phenomena has exposed me to people whose view of life is so alien to mine that I realized that any meaningful communication was impossible. It wasn’t just a question of POV or opinion, it was far more fundamental than that. I even began to question whether I was reading the product of diseased minds. Barrett is one of those people, so I stopped visiting his site.

    Pass…

  3. After just spending 30 minutes at BlogWatch -which really ought to be named “Evil Capitalist Repulican Watch” – I think it would be a waste of any intelligent conservative to sacrifice themselves at this altar. Even the “Third party” section really should be called “Leftist Extremist” section.

I’ve only been able to find one conservative voice in the comments section, and he is known as the site troll.

The editor appears to be partisan – cherry picking who he wants to edit for “personal attacks”. Oddly, the personal attacks that flow from the left doesn’t seem to bother him.

Personally, I don’t see how adding a conservative voice to the slaughter is going to improve this most biased blog.
It’s going to take at least a week for me to get this dirty, greasy feeling off my skin after 30 minutes there.

  4. Nice, you disagree with my points of view so you do nothing productive and instead call me names. No wonder a lot of people slam the Republican party and the GOP’s supporter’s for being narrow-minded and small-minded.

My plan for WatchBlog from the start has been to refrain from posting my political views (which are already well-known, and published on my personal blog). I do post comemnts, but never as “Editor” but as “Cam”. It’s an important point to note.

From Day One I have only had to delete one post on WatchBlog for being too offensive, and it wasn’t even in the Republican blog – it was in the Democrats blog.

No political censorship is present on WatchBlog. I edit posts for spelling and grammar mistakes and sometimes remove profanity or sentences that resport to name-calling. I’ve closed the comments on posts where the discussion has degenerated into a pissing match, and no one has complained yet.

All I can say to my critics is: I built WatchBlog to be a place for intelligent cross-partisanship debate and discussion. Most people who participate understand this and do not engage in the behaviors we routinely see on other blogs, especially the behavior of name-calling, mudslinging and character assassination. So I ask my critics, “What have you done to improve political discussion in America?”

And if you feel that the Republican blog editors are being hammered, you are more than welcome to apply to be an editor and try to balance it out. I think most people would agree that this is a better option than running around on blogs and calling people names for no apparent reason.
